Royal Mail - Import services

If you wish to use the Royal Mail import services, you can integrate with the Intersoft Intelligent Shipper and start your seamless importing journey.

Important:
This section is only applicable if you are a Royal Mail customer who is importing goods into the UK. Before initiating the integration, make sure you have an agreement with Royal Mail to use this service.

To integrate with the Royal Mail import services via Intelligent Shipper, follow the instructions as explained below:

1. Fill out the Onboarding Form providing Royal Mail shipping details – account number, posting location and OBA registered e-mail address (more on this can be found here).

Please note:
This step can be completed at any stage, but without it we are not able to proceed with the production account setup which could take up to 5 working days.

2.
All the guides and documentations can be accessed here, and the Sandbox API URL endpoints are listed here. Your Sandbox API credentials have been sent to you via e-mail, but please let us know if you would like us to re-send them.

Important:
If you are a Freight 2 Post customer, you will need to develop our Containerisation (A-scan) API.

3. Work on developing all the API calls required considering the ones applicable to you:

    - If you are a Commercial Clearance customer, refer to the corresponding requirements.

    - If you are a Freight 2 Post customer, refer to the corresponding requirements.

 4. Once all the necessary steps have been completed, you are now ready to go live. Before getting you live on board, make sure you complete our Test Pack and submit it at onboarding@intersoft.co.uk.

Please note:
A test pack is a critical step in the implementation process, ensuring a smooth transition to the live environment and minimising disruptions in shipping operations.

5. Once the Test Pack is approved and the Onboarding Form filled out,  we will share with you the Production API credentials and details on the sign off process required by Royal Mail.

The sign off depends on what type of Royal Mail customer you are:

  • Royal Mail importers using Commercial Clearance route - involves physical label sign off, where you will be requested to create couple of labels, manifest them and ship them to Royal Mail.
  • Royal Mail importers using Freight 2 Post route - involves CDS checks as well as physical label sign off. For CDS checks, you will be requested to create couple of labels, manifest them and share with us the PDFs so they can be reviewed and signed off. For physical label sign off, you will be requested to create couple of labels, manifest them and ship them to Royal Mail.

Please note:
The full details on sign offs required by Royal Mail will be shared with you closer to the date.

6. Once the labels are signed off and the go-live date is agreed with Royal Mail, you can start shipping via Intelligent Shipper.

Important:
Please direct any questions or issues with this service to onboarding@intersoft.co.uk.. For INTERSOFT to investigate your issue accordingly, kindly include copies of both the API request and API response.
