Intelligent Shipper Release Notes (Please refer to your deployment notification for Release Notes Dates)
Royal Mail’s new ReasonForExport values
As outlined in our previous customer communication, Royal Mail’s updated Reason for Export values are now live across Intersoft platforms.
From 1 June 2026, Royal Mail no longer accepts certain existing values for Category / Nature of Goods. To support this change, Intersoft has introduced two new ReasonForExport values:
- Ecommerce Sale of Goods – for business-to-consumer (B2C) shipments
- Commercial Sale of Goods – for business-to-business (B2B) shipments
This is done so that the shipments are correctly classified as e-commerce or commercial sales, ensuring compliance with Royal Mail's latest specification
Note: Please keep in mind the following:
· If the existing Sale of Goods value is selected as the reason for export, the system automatically determines whether the shipment is Ecommerce (B2C or D2C) or Commercial (B2B) based on the value provided in the BusinessTransactionType field in the create shipment request.
· If any of the new reason for export values are requested via UI or the Print Document API, they will be displayed in the generated CN23 document. For more information, refer to the Intelligent Shipper API - Multipiece Shipment Bookings specification document.
