Royal Mail Consignment Services
The Intelligent Shipper Create Shipment API now supports Royal Mail consignment services and allows up to 30 packages per consignment. When you submit a multi‑package request for a shipment using a consignment service, the API generates a single consignment number—derived from the first package’s tracking number with “_CON” appended. This prevents split shipments and avoids related overcharges.
With these services added, the Type 3 Pre-advice file have both the TCI supplement code and the consignment number for each package, enabling Royal Mail to accurately group items for billing and improve tracking visibility.
Note: The existing functionality remains unchanged when a multi-package request is sent using a single-package Royal Mail service.
